We set out to help three children and their families, all in different ways. See how we helped a local 10-year-old and her family this holiday season. Friends of the Children has been that someone to children in Boston for more than 12 years now. Their mentors commit to each child for the long-term – from kindergarten through high school graduation – no matter what. Their work is helping to break the cycle of generational poverty by making sure that these children stay on a successful path and graduate high school. Catie’s Closet is a discreet in-school service that provides these necessities to children of all ages. They open their doors to those kids living below the poverty line, offering them things like outfits and shampoo – so that they can focus on things like math and english.
